What is EPDM roofing, and is it right for me?
EPDM roofing is normally used on flat or low slope roofs, and is an extremely durable type of synthetic rubber roofing. It is now an industry standard for roofing with rubber, thanks to its heat and weather resistance.
EPDM can be installed:
- Fully adhered
- Mechanically attached
- Ballasted
EPDM has a wide variety of uses for all types of roofing projects, from Domestic through to Commercial. The number of ways it can be installed makes EPDM a popular roofing solution.
Some examples of where you might use EPDM roofing are:
- Garage Roofs
- Flat roofs
- Felt Roofing
What is the best EPDM roofing to have?
We only use genuine Firestone RubberCover brand EPDM roofing.

How long will EPDM roofing last for?
EPDM roofing has become the established roofing material for all climatic conditions. It has an excellent track record due to its unique characteristics.
• EPDM is heavily resistant to UV (ultraviolet) radiation and the ozone
• EPDM has heavy resistance to thermal shock (sudden changes in temperature)
• EPDM will not become brittle and will not shatter due to low temperature flexibility
• EPDM has a long lifetime even with constant stress and strain on it.
• EPDM has superior resistance to weather, such as hail
Recent studies show that the membrane has a life expectancy of more than 50 years.
Will I have to maintain my EPDM roofing?
No! EPDM roofing will last for its expected lifetime without incurring the need for any additional major maintenance or treatment. Make sure to periodically remove any debris and leaves, then your roof should last!
